Sept 12, Colombo: Sri Lanka cancelled the tsunami alert issued few hours ago soon after Indonesia’s meteorological agency cancelled its tsunami warning issued after a massive 8.2 scale earthquake hit the west coast of Indonesia’s Sumatra island.
An official at the Sri Lanka Disaster Management Centre said the warning was lifted as there is no threat anymore to the island.
Earlier the Center warned the residents of the north, east, south and southwestern coastal areas to leave to safer grounds.
