A 8.2 magnitude earthquake has blasted in the Southern Sumathra, triggering a tsunami alert.
According to the Ministry of Disaster Management and Human Rights the magnitude has developed in to 8.2 and the Ministry has requested the citizens in North, East, South-West and South to be cautious since there is a possibility of generating tsunami in the Indian Ocean.
The Weather Department also requested the citizen to clear from the shores in the areas mentioned above, thus, issuing a tsunami warning.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre issued a tsunami alert for the entire Indian Ocean region following the latest quake.
A massive undersea earthquake sparked a tsunami that killed many in Sri Lanka in December 2004.
